Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, October 29, 2024* — A 17-year-old boy was beheaded in Jaunpur district on Wednesday in a tragic incident fueled by a longstanding land dispute. His mother, according to reports, was seen holding his severed head in her lap for hours. The conflict, dating back to 40-45 years over a piece of land in Kabiruddin village, took a violent turn and led to the death of the teenager, Anurag Yadav, son of Ramjeet Yadav.
The clash took place in Gaurabadshahpur police station jurisdiction where tensions between two parties had been brewing for decades over an old land issue. The dispute erupted violently on Wednesday when men from the opposite side chased down Anurag. One of the assailants, who allegedly was carrying a sword, attacked Anurag so hard that his head came off from his body.
Law enforcement agencies intervened promptly and effectively in an attempt to stop any more violence, as a few police teams were rushed to the location. Authorities took two persons into custody; however, the prime perpetrator who had wielded the sword is still absconding. Police have launched a search operation for the culprit.
Jaunpur District Magistrate Dinesh Chandra said that the culprits behind this horrific murder will be dealt with in the most severe manner by law.The case has gained much attention, and it is a very tragic and brutal incident that brings into focus the intensity of the unresolved land disputes in rural areas.
