In Haryana, the ongoing crackdown on Bangladeshi nationals living illegally has sparked political controversy. The Trinamool Congress is claiming that these individuals are actually citizens of West Bengal, while the Haryana government insists they are Bangladeshis and is preparing to deport them.Across the state, authorities have intensified efforts to identify and detain Bangladeshis residing illegally.
Over the past six months, around 200 Bangladeshi nationals have been apprehended. After being detained in Haryana, they are sent to refugee centers in Delhi, where central government teams carry out verification and decide on further action.Last Friday in Gurugram, police detained eight Bangladeshi citizens who were living illegally. During the operation, officials recovered several identity documents from them, including both Indian and Bangladeshi IDs.
The authorities have stated that these individuals will be deported.Police explained that, as part of the campaign to identify illegal immigrants, they are checking domestic workers, street vendors, tenants, as well as residents of slum areas and construction sites. It was during this investigation that the eight Bangladeshi nationals were taken into custody.
