WhatsApp Fraud Call: Recently, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued an advisory to people about calls from fraudulent numbers on WhatsApp. According to the Ministry of Telecommunication, people are receiving such fraudulent calls in the name of the Department of Communication, in which they are being threatened that if they do not give their details, their numbers may be blocked. These fraud callers threaten mobile users by saying that their numbers are being misused for some illegal activities.
‘Dangerous’ WhatsApp number
The Department of Communications has also issued an advisory regarding WhatsApp calls from foreign mobile numbers. This is a number starting with
92-xxxxxxxxx. They cheat people by pretending to be government officials.
