Chandigarh/Auckland, July 28: Jasvir Singh Garhi, Chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission, met with senior New Zealand politician and Member of Parliament Philip Stoner Tefoord, who is also a former cabinet minister of New Zealand.During their discussion, Mr. Garhi raised issues concerning the Punjabi community living in New Zealand.
They specifically talked about recent incidents where flags of Sikh and other faiths were burned. Mr. Garhi urged Mr. Tefoord to request the New Zealand government to promote awareness and tolerance toward all religions to prevent such acts of intolerance.
Additionally, Mr. Garhi encouraged Mr. Tefoord to motivate New Zealand-based companies to invest in Punjab.To further strengthen mutual ties, Mr. Garhi invited Mr. Philip Stoner Tefoord to visit Sri Amritsar Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib, and other historical and religious sites in Punjab—a proposal Mr. Tefoord gladly accepted.
