Chandigarh, July 28:In a major step to enhance vocational training for youth, the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Government Polytechnic College Amritsar and IIT Ropar.As part of this MoU, an AI-based Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab will be set up at Government Polytechnic College Amritsar.
The signing ceremony was chaired by Punjab’s Minister for Public Works and Power, Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO.Speaking at the event, Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s commitment to strengthening technical education infrastructure and equipping youth with future-ready skills.This new lab will support students and faculty with research collaborations, technical assistance, and hands-on training in emerging technologies.
It will also help design skill-based education modules aligned with industry needs, boosting innovation and applied learning.The MoU was signed by Principal Mr. Davinder Singh Bhatti of Government Polytechnic College Amritsar and officials from IIT Ropar.
The event was attended by senior IIT Ropar officials, Nominee Director and Principal Kamaldeep Kaur, the Skilling and Start-up Team, officials from Punjab’s Communications and Technical Education Departments, and faculty members from various polytechnic colleges.
